CLIMBING THE STAIRS
Climbing the stairs of an old block of flats
in Nicosia I suddenly saw
through the window the two minarets of Saint Sophia
draped in red flags
and Pentadaktylos mountain in between.
ΑΝΕΒΑΙΝΟΝΤΑΣ ΤΙΣ ΣΚΑΛΕΣ
Ανεβαίνοντας σε μια παλιά πολυκατοικία
της Λευκωσίας από τις σκάλες είδα ξαφνικά
από το παράθυρο τους δύο μιναρέδες της Αγίας Σοφίας
τυλιγμένους με κόκκινες σημαίες
και ανάμεσά τους τον Πενταδάκτυλο.
