“I conceived the idea of writing my memoirs a few years after my retirement from the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus. Every time I narrated histories ad anecdotes of my 37 years of service i the Department, colleagues ad friends encouraged me to write them up i a volume of memoirs. Although I will confine myself to archaeological matters, I have ot resisted the temptation to metio aspects of my personal life which, I feel, have had a impact on my archaeological career….”
