Description

When lives were changed forever

This book by Elias Pantelides presents the laconic tales, the short biographies of 16 Cypriots. A Maronite, a British, 4 Turkish Cypriots, 10 Greek Cypriots speak out. All Cypriots. Their years of birth range from 1939 to 1959, but their 1974 memories are durable and long-lasting, as if yesterday was today. In 1974 Cyprus suffered a lot. It was a catastrophic dark period which cannot become clearer unless one takes the painful trip down memory lane, back to 1964, 1960 and 1955.

Every tale is presented with emphasis on the scorching summer of 1974 when Cyprus faced a terrible double tragedy and many people witnessed a small part of it.

All 16 Cypriots, who speak out in this book, expressed their deep love for the land of Cyprus; irrespective of their ethnicity, mother language, gender, religion or atheism, or political convictions.

All have been hoping for a united, peaceful, safe Cyprus.
