The Eruption of Thera and its Effect on Cyprus

Between the years 1933 and 1938, 4,158 tons of pumice were colected, some of it exported, from the beach of Ayia Irini. Pieces of pumice occur also along the beach near Vavilas and Davlos both on the north coast, and the Geological Department of Cyprus informs me that it can be found in other part of the island, especially along the western and northern coast. I have collected myself quite recently many pieces of pumice on the western coast of the Akamas peninsula.
