“Preface
The young archaeologist Alfred Westholm wrote letters from Cyprus almost
every week from 1927 to 1931 to his parents in Falun in Sweden. These
letters were published in 2006 by Paul Åström in Swedish under the title “De
fantastiska åren på Cypern”, brev till föräldrarna 1927-1931 (“The fantastic
years on Cyprus”, letters to the parents 1927-1931, by Alfred Westholm).
The present booklet contains a number of these letters in Swedish with
English translation and with pictures illustrating the texts.
The Swedish Cyprus Expedition laid the foundation for the scientific
studies of Cypriote archaeology and history and worked all over the island
