Description
Sammy has an idyllic boyhood in Cyprus with his glamorous, hippy parents in the freedom of the early seventies. Then, overnight, his life is changed by two tragedies that will remain interwined in his mind for ever.
Forced to leave his island paradise, Sammy is enrolled in an austere English boarding school, there to play out his anger against an unforgiving regime that leaves him alienated and alone. Then he meets Rajiv, a diligent scholar from the West Indies. The two form an unlikely friendship and, in years to come, that friendship will dramatically alter the course of Sammy’s life when a horrifying event leads him to abandon all that he had known and attempt a new way of being, in exile, in the Caribbean paradise of Rajiv’s childhood.
