“[…] Ο Max Ohnefalsch-Richter ήρθε στην Κύπρο ως ανταποκριτής εφημερίδων, όταν οι Άγγλοι κατέλαβαν την Κύπρο, το 1878. Το πολιτικό του ενδιαφέρον όμως για την Κύπρο έσβησε πολύ γρήγορα και αντικαταστάθηκε από τη δίψα του για την αρχαιολογία. Έτσι, για πολλά χρόνια διενεργεί ανασκαφές στην περιοχή Λάρνακας – Κιτίου, στη Σαλαμίνα, στην Άχνα, Ορμήδια, Ξυλοτύμπου, το Ιδάλιο, Αλάμπρα, Ταμασσό, Άγιο Ηρακλείδιο και αλλού. Επιθυμία του ήταν να πετύχει μια μεγάλη ανακάλυψη και να συμβάλει θετικά στην Κυπριακή αρχαιολογία.
Παράλληλα, σ’ ένα από τα ταξίδια του στην Κύπρο το 1895 δημιούργησε το Λεύκωμα αυτό, που ο ίδιος και η γυναίκα του Μάγδα, πρόσφεραν στο Αυτοκρατορικό ζεύγος της Γερμανίας, σ’ ένδειξη τιμής και ευγνωμοσύνης για την οικονομική βοήθεια που τους παρέσχε. Το Λεύκωμα αποτελείται από 129 πρωτότυπες φωτογραφίες και οκτώ αυθεντικές υδατογραφίες. Παρόλο που οι φωτογραφίες αποδίδονται στον Max και τη Magda Ohnefalsch-Richter, είναι σχεδόν βέβαιο ότι χρησιμοποιήθηκαν και φωτογραφίες γνωστών φωτογράφων της εποχής, όπως του J.P.Foscolo, του I.Thomson, του G.Glazner και του C.Enlart. Οι υδατογραφίες είναι έργα του E.C.Foot και του Max Ohnefalsch-Richter.
Πέρα από την καλλιτεχνική τους αξία, οι φωτογραφίες και οι υδατογραφίες του Λευκώματος του Richter είναι μια αυθεντική απεικόνιση του χρόνου και του χώρου της εποχής εκείνης, των ηθών, των εθίμων και της αληθινής κυπριακής παράδοσης. […]”

” […] The Richter Album, obtained luckily two years ago at an auction of Sotherby’s in London and presented here, is one of those works and we now proudly repatriate it to the land where it belongs.
Max Ohnefalsch-Richter arrived in Cyprus as a newspaper correspondent in 1878, when the British took over the island. His political interest for Cyprus, though, soon faded and was replaced by his lust for archaeology. Thus, for a number of years he excavates in the Larnaca-Kition area, in Salamis, in Achna, Ormidhia, Xylotympou, in Idalion, Alambra, Tamassos, Ayios Heraklidios and elsewhere. He sought to strike an important discovery and thus make a positive contribution to Cypriot archaeology.
In one of his subsequent trips to Cyprus in 1895, he created this Album, that he himself and his wife Magda dedicated to the Imperial German couple, as a token of honour and gratitude for the financial assistance they had received. The Album contains 129 original photographs and eight original watercolours. Most of the photographs belonging to other well known photographers of the time, such as J.P.Foscolo, I.Thomson, G.Glazner and C.Enlart, were used. The watercolours are works by E.G.Foot and Max Ohnefalsch-Richter.
Beyond their artistic value, the photographs and watercolours contained in this Album are authentic representations of the land, of the customs and beliefs and above all, of the original Cypriot traditions at that particular time. […]”
