Icons. The Velimezis Collection

Description

This volume is the complete and scientifically documented catalogue of the collection of post-Byzantine icons by his close associate Antonis Benakis, Aimilios Velimezis (1902-1946), part of which was donated to the Benaki Museum. The author, drawing on the accumulated scientific knowledge, puts at the disposal of the reader the entire panorama of the data and the interpretative data about the seventy two images of the collection, which due to the time span (15th-19th c.) and the breadth of their geographical origin, are an extremely useful and representative corpus of artistic production of those centuries.
