Description
Several years ago arose the idea of putting together in a single volume the many dispersed smaller Greek prosopographies to make them available on the same basis as the larger Attic, Spartan, Argive etc. propographies; the idea was discussed during the VIII International Congress of Greek and Latin Epigraphy (Athens, September 1983) with the late Prof. A1.N. Oikonomides who undertook to publish it alongside his reprints of Attic and Makedonian prosopographies and who asked me to write an introduction to the volume, discussing the state of Greek prosopography.
